According to an insider source, the update is scheduled for late September 2022.
Now that Windows 11 has had a chance to prove itself to the world, its first feature update is available. Microsoft has been teasing the 22H2 update for some time, and according to sources, it will be released in late September 2022.
First Windows 11 Feature Update, 22H2
This information was published by The Verge in a post regarding the return of Microsoft Ignite to in-person events. However, buried within the article’s body is the following golden nugget:
According to sources cited by The Verge, Microsoft plans to commemorate Surface’s 10-year anniversary with new products this fall and to release the 22H2 update for Windows 11 in late September.
This is wonderful news, as 22H2 will add a plethora of wonderful features to Windows 11. This includes a redesigned Task Manager, a File Explorer with tabs, modifications to the Start menu, and more.
As usual, when late September rolls around and your copy of Windows 11 hasn’t received the update, you shouldn’t be too dejected. Microsoft prefers to release these updates in stages, with only a select few receiving them initially. It may take some time, but your computer should eventually receive the update.
Feature Injection Required for Windows 11
Microsoft faces a formidable obstacle in attempting to convince users to upgrade to Windows 11. According to StatCounter at the time of writing, Windows 11’s global market share has not yet surpassed Windows 7’s, even if the gap is less than one percent.
However, Microsoft’s operating systems are notoriously inferior shortly after release. As a result, these feature updates are a great way for Microsoft to add additional motivations to upgrade to Windows 11.
Windows 11 22H2, To Be Released
Windows 11’s first-ever feature update, 22H2, includes some intriguing new features, but it remains to be seen whether it will convince users to upgrade to the operating system. Nevertheless, it’s a great start, and we can’t wait to see all the new features for ourselves in September 2022.
