Next month, these truly wireless headphones will receive a significant update.
Everywhere you look, an increasing number of individuals are adopting truly wireless headphones. The AirPods (opens in new tab) are by far the most desired wireless earbuds, even among Android users, and recently, all eyes have been on Apple as people eagerly await the release of the next edition of its wireless earbuds. In the interim, it appears that a competitor has beaten Apple to the punch on one of its rumored upcoming features for the next AirPods release: wireless charging functionality for the charging case.
Bang & Olufsen’s Beoplay E8 Wireless Earphones (opens in new tab) offer best-in-class sound quality that surpasses that of the AirPods, which is to be expected given that their regular price tag of $499 is nearly double that of the AirPods. The Beoplay E8 2.0 Earphones are the successor to the Beoplay E8 Earbuds, which are currently available for as little as $214 (opens in new tab) on Amazon. However, it may be in your best interest to hold off on this purchase, as the company has just announced the Beoplay E8 2.0 Earphones.
Though B&O has not yet provided extensive information on the differences between the earbuds, the most notable difference between the new and old E8 earphones is the new charging case’s wireless charging capability, which eliminates the need to manually plug it in. Additionally, it is now equipped with a USB-C charging port, in case you have not yet acquired a wireless charger. The new charging case provides four more hours of battery life than the previous model, for a total of 16 hours of listening time.
The Beoplay E8 2.0 Earphones will be available for $349.99 on Bang & Olufsen’s website (opens in a new tab) and at select retailers beginning on February 14. Current owners of the Beoplay E8 Earphones will be able to purchase the new charging case for $200 separately. B&O also unveiled a stylish 10W wireless charging pad that pairs well with the new charging case. Its price and release date have yet to be announced, but both accessories are expected to be available in April.
