Bending light to hide ugly bezels.
Despite being slightly dimmer than the actual screen, it is said to be less distracting than the seams created by two adjacent bezels. In addition, they are completely passive, so you won’t need to run any unsightly wires or use any additional electricity to operate them.
Asus displayed at CES 2018 a unique monitor accessory that manipulates light to eliminate unsightly bezels when using multiple monitors. After more than two years, the extension is now available for purchase.
The Asus ROG Bezel-Free Kit is compatible with flat monitors under 27 inches with a frameless or slim-bezel design on all four sides (13mm or smaller). The lenses are made of transparent thermoplastic that is more durable than glass and allows 90% of the monitor’s light to pass through.
Asus suggested that you may need to adjust the placement of your monitors for optimal visual performance (they are designed to work at a 130-degree angle). In addition, the company stated that the accessory is designed specifically for gaming and is not advised for general computing tasks such as web browsing or spreadsheet creation.
The Asus ROG Bezel-Free Kit can be purchased on Amazon for $109 per pair. However, it may be best to wait for third-party reviews, as early Amazon reviews are not particularly encouraging.
