As if NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 30 family wasn’t already becoming somewhat crowded with announced GPUs and rumored GPUs in development, a new SKU has been added to the table. GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra is about to be released, according to a new rumored product leak.
The latest leak reveals the retail packaging and custom graphics card for the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra (TUF-RTX3060U-O12G-Gaming). The box indicates that the GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra will feature 12GB of GDDR6 memory and a triple-fan design. According to WCCFTech, which was the first to discover the leak, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra will be positioned above the previously released GeForce RTX 3060 Ti in terms of performance. However, its performance will still lag behind that of the GeForce RTX 3070.
The TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra features a 2.7-slot design and a combination of aluminum fins and copper heat pipes under the triple fans to dissipate GPU heat. In terms of backplate ports, there are three DisplayPort connections in addition to an HDMI port.
The number of CUDA cores and base/game/boost clocks will have to wait until a later date, along with any other hardware specifications (aside from the amount of GDDR6 memory) that are currently unknown. Consequently, the price of the current GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is $399. (if you can find them in stock). GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra is rumored to be priced at $449, bridging the gap between the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and the $499 GeForce RTX 3070.
We must take all of this information with a grain of salt for the time being. Images can be fabricated, and nothing is certain until NVIDIA announces the GPU officially. GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra has 12GB of GDDR6, whereas the more expensive GeForce RTX RTX 3070 has “only” 8GB. However, NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 3070 SKUs may address this shortcoming.
On January 12, 2021, NVIDIA is scheduled to make major announcements at CES 2021, and we will cover all the major news live.
