Do you appreciate curves?
This year at CES, Samsung debuted its Odyssey line of curved high-end gaming monitors and has now released the G7 variant, which is available in 32-inch and 27-inch display sizes.
The Odyssey gaming monitor lineup that Samsung announced at CES 2020 was ahead of the curve. The company has now announced the global release of the G7 model, which features a 1000R curvature for enhanced immersion, a 1ms response time (GTG), and a 240Hz refresh rate on a 2,560 x 1,440 QLED display.
Other specifications include HDR 600 certification, a 350-nit display with a maximum brightness of 600 nits, and support for Nvidia’s G-Sync and AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro. There are two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, one HDMI 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 uplink port, two USB 3.0 downlink ports, and a headphone jack.
In addition to the monitor’s rear I/O, Samsung has given the monitor’s back a distinctive appearance with what appears to be a floating orb or an energy core powering the display. It is not, but the hardware is a component of Samsung’s “infinity core lighting” system, which the company claims can be dimmed or set to a static state during gameplay, with support for up to 52 color options and five lighting effects.
The Odyssey G7 is currently available for pre-order on Amazon, with a release date of 13 July 2020. The 27-inch model is priced at $600, while the 32-inch model costs $800.
For UK residents, the monitor is available ten days earlier and costs £550 (27 inches) and £630 (32 inches) (32 inches). They can also pre-order the flagship 49-inch Odyssey G9 for a whopping £1,280 ($1,500+) from Overclockers UK.
