Samsung has been releasing the Android 13 and One UI 5.0 update to as many devices as possible, as quickly as possible, and the company has not discriminated between flagship and mid-range phones. Samsung does not distinguish between successful and unsuccessful products.
The Galaxy Xcover 5, a rugged phone that didn’t launch in too many countries and probably didn’t sell all that well wherever it did launch, is now receiving the One UI 5.0 update based on Android 13. The Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro was updated to Android 13 in mid-November, so we shouldn’t be surprised, but Samsung’s breakneck pace continues to impress everyone.
The Galaxy Xcover 5 (model number SM-G525F) is receiving the Android 13 update simultaneously in a dozen or so countries (mostly in Europe), with the rollout appearing to have begun within the past few hours. The update includes the November 2022 security patch, so the most recent security fixes are also included.
The rollout of Galaxy Xcover 5 Android 13 One UI 5.0
The complete Galaxy Xcover 5 Android 13 firmware is available for download from our firmware archive for those wishing to perform a manual upgrade using a Windows PC, though we recommend first attempting to download it over the air, directly on the device, using the Download and install option in its Settings » Software update menu. If you have little or no experience manually flashing firmware on a Samsung smartphone, an over-the-air download will cost you fewer data and is generally safer.
