Before the start of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Lutron on Sunday announced the addition of a fan control system and matching remote to its lighting-centric Caseta smart home platform.
Since it does not require a canopy module, the fan control unit may be installed to “most” current ceiling fans within 15 minutes, according to Lutron. Owners can shift between four speeds and select one as their preferred setting.
By integrating fan settings into Lutron’s iPhone and iPad app, fan settings can be incorporated into bigger scenes of the company’s devices, such as turning down fans at the same time as shades and lights.
The app requires a Lutron Smart Bridge, Smart Bridge Pro, or RA2 Select, and the business did not immediately disclose support for third-party smart home platforms such as Apple HomeKit. However, the Smart Bridge supports HomeKit for at least some Lutron accessories.
The optional Pico remote has a range of 30 feet, a battery life of 10 years, and “various” mounting possibilities.
In March, both goods will be available for $80 and $42 respectively. The fan control accessory will be available in black, white, ivory, and light almond, and will work with any 1.5-amp ceiling fan with a neutral wire present.
