Samsung’s superior software support policy promises four generations of OS upgrades for many phones manufactured in 2021 and 2022, whereas many phones manufactured in 2020 and earlier were eligible for three major upgrades. The Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A51 5G belong to the latter category, and the 5G model has now begun receiving its third and final major update.
In the United States, Xfinity Mobile has released the Android 13 and One UI 5.0 update for the Galaxy A51 5G. This is the first time anywhere in the world that Android 13 has been released for either Galaxy A51 model, and surprisingly, one of the smaller North American carriers has taken the lead.
Update to Galaxy A51 5G One UI 5.0 has finally arrived
Owners of the Galaxy A51 5G on the Xfinity network can now enjoy the most recent Android and Samsung’s One UI skin. The update is being rolled out over the air (you can download it from the phone’s Settings » Software update menu) and includes the latest security patches; the full firmware is also available in our archives for those who want to manually upgrade to Android 13 on a Windows PC.
Android 13 and One UI 5.0 bring a plethora of new features, including expanded lock screen customization options (which, admittedly, will be useless for the majority of users), enhanced security and privacy, faster performance and smoother animations, and more. You can view our videos below for a comprehensive overview of the update’s new features, though not all of them may be available on the A51 5G, a mid-range phone that has been on the market for more than two years.
