Samsung releases quarterly security updates for the Galaxy A12, and this quarter’s update is now available. The company has begun distributing the security patch for December 2022 to the international, US carrier-locked, and South Korean Galaxy A12 models.
The latest update for the international Galaxy A12 (SM-A125F) bumps the firmware version to A125FXXU2CVL1. A125NKSU2CVL1 and A125USQS5CVL6 are the firmware versions for the US carrier-locked (SM-A125U) and South Korean (SM-A125N) variants of the smartphone, respectively. These updates include a security patch for December 2022 that addresses 93 security vulnerabilities. However, they may also contain bug fixes and performance enhancements.
Six regions receive the December 2022 security update for the International variant: Caucasus Countries, Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. On SK Telecom, LG Uplus, and KT Corporation networks, the South Korean variant of the device is receiving updates. US Cellular’s network is updating the locked-to-carrier variant of the device in the United States. In the coming days, Samsung will distribute the update to the remaining variants and other regions.
Galaxy A12 may soon receive Android 13 (One UI 5.0)
In August 2022, the Galaxy A12 received the Android 12 (One UI 4.0) update. The smartphone is eligible for the Android 13 update because it launched with Android 10 and is slated to receive three Android OS updates (One UI 5.0). Samsung has already rolled out the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 software to numerous smartphones, and you can expect the Galaxy A12 to receive it shortly. However, a specific date for the rollout is not yet available.
