Eve Systems, a developer of Apple’s HomeKit smart home technology, has introduced two new HomeKit-compatible gadgets: the Eve Energy Strip for multiple AC-powered devices and the Eve Light Strip.
Light Strip Eve
The Eve Light Strip joins an already crowded field of HomeKit-compatible LED light strips, beginning with the latter.
The strip is available in 6.6-foot lengths and can be cut at 1-foot intervals. Alternately, it can be stretched to a total length of 32.8 feet by joining four strips together.
The Eve Light Strip is available in “millions” of color combinations. It is capable of producing 1800 lumens, comparable to the bright Philips Hue Light Strip, according to the manufacturer.
Soon, Eve’s LED Light Strip will begin shipping, with availability beginning in February via Eve’s website and the Apple Store. The price of $79.95 is comparable to other versions on the market.
Eve Energy Strip
This power outlet, encased in aluminum to match other current Eve products, has three ports for plugging in various gadgets. Each outlet can be separately controlled via HomeKit or the device’s physical buttons.
In addition to working as a HomeKit controller, it protects devices from power surges, overvoltage, and overcurrent.
It will release in March for $119 through the same retail outlets, lagging somewhat behind the Eve Light Strip.
Both the Energy Strip and the Light Strip may be programmed to turn on and off at specific periods or activated by other HomeKit buttons and sensors.
