The latest gaming laptop lineup from Dell shines at CES 2023.
Dell has introduced the G15 and G16 models, which will both be available in the early months of 2023. In contrast to the most recent Alienware models unveiled at CES 2023, these Dell gaming laptops prioritize affordability. In particular, the starting price of the Dell G15 is $849, while the starting price of the Dell G16 is $1,499.
These new variations of Dell’s gaming laptop lineup are also influenced by Alienware’s thermal cooling, featuring four heat pipes, improved fans, and a larger heat exchange.
The Dell G15 and G16 share the majority of their configurations, including the Intel Core i5-13450HX, i7-13650HX, i7-13700T, and i9-13900T processors. Both can be outfitted with 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB of RAM, as well as 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB of SSD storage. There will be a discrete “next generation” Nvidia GeForce RTX card. Neither laptop’s GPU options are currently known. AMD options will become available during the second quarter.
Displays are the configuration difference between the two laptops. The 15-inch 1920×1080 display of the Dell G15 can be configured to 250 nits at 120Hz or 300 nits at 165Hz refresh rate. The 16-inch QHD+ 2560×1600 300-nit display on the Dell G16 features either a 165Hz or 240Hz refresh rate.
The Dell G15 is available in three colors, each of which has been extravagantly embellished. Included in this category are Dark Shadow Gray, Quantum White (with Deep Space Blue thermal shelf), and Pop Purple (with Neo Mint thermal shelf). The Dell G16 is available in two color options: Metallic Nightshade (with a black thermal shelf) and Quantum White (with a Metallic Nightshade thermal shelf).
The ports on the Dell G15 include an HDMI 2.1 port, three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a USB-C Gen 2 port, an audio jack port, and an RJ-45 port. Despite the lack of excitement in the port selection, the abundance of USB 3.2 Type-A ports is welcome. The Dell G16 has a similar port selection, except that the USB-C port on the RTX 4070 configuration supports Thunderbolt 4.
