Since last month, Samsung has been a bit hesitant to implement the most recent security patches on its devices, presumably because it is focused on setting a record that may be unbreakable. Similar to the November 2022 security update, the December 2022 security update debuted on Galaxy devices later than expected, but Samsung is gaining ground.
In the past few days, Samsung has updated the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy S20 series, and Galaxy A90 5G with the December security patch, and it is currently updating the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The Galaxy Note 20 series is receiving the December security update in a number of European countries, and it will likely reach other continents in the near future.
The December security update for the Galaxy Note 20 has debuted in Europe
The update comes with firmware version N98xxXXS5GVK9, and it only includes the most recent security patches for Android and Samsung’s modified version of it. The update is based on Android 13, which shouldn’t come as a surprise given that the Galaxy Note 20 series already runs the most recent version of the operating system in the majority, if not all, countries.
As usual, your phone will notify you once the update is available in your country. However, you can skip the wait and manually check for the update by selecting Download and install from the Settings » Software update menu on your Galaxy Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra. It is also possible to download the new firmware from our archive and install it on your phone using a Windows PC.
