Optics of the Nerf N-Strike Modulus

Like all Nerf XD models, the Modulus Blaster is designed in the typical blue/white/orange colors and looks quite modern and cool. Included in the package are a shoulder rest, a barrel extension, and a target telescope. All these accessories can be installed and dismantled as required. In addition to the running extension of this Nerf rifle, a handle can be attached, which of course is included. As in the case of the retaliator, the grain is placed at the front, which is folded up for better aiming. Fully equipped, the Nerf Modulus Blaster looks amazingly powerful – your next opponent has respect right from the first sight.

The technology of the Nerf Elite XD Modulus

As already mentioned, the Nerf Modulus is battery powered and requires 4x AA batteries to operate the flywheel system. Then you have a solid semi-automatic weapon, with which you can shoot about two darts/second if you can deal with the trigger quickly. Under the hood, there is a second, smaller trigger, with which the engine is brought to work. This should be a two-second run before you shoot the first darts to take advantage of the full firepower of the ECS-10.

Blasterparts offers a so-called “Voltage Mod” for the Modulus Blaster. This modification increases the operating voltage of the blaster from 6V to 11.1V – which means that the rate of fire increases significantly and a much higher range is achieved. The good thing about the Voltage Mods: You do not have to screw around and replace parts – only the battery compartment is opened, the conventional batteries are removed and the voltage batteries installed. Very simple! If you want to know more, check out here: Nerf Tuning

Finally, it is there, the new Nerf flagship, the Nerf Modulus of the N-Strike series! Even before summer 2015, the Nerf community was made hot by “leaked” images of the semi-automatic modus, its additional modules, and many rumors. Here you can finally read the accurate and German test report for N-Strike Elite XD Modulus.

What is so new about the Modulus? Well, the Nerf Modulus was longed for because of its modular structure (hence the name) it allows the nerf fan to assemble the blaster according to their wishes and ideas. This can be done with two flip-flops. Finally, even less able Nerf fans can customize their blaster without any hassle (i.e., “modern”). Dad is great; the module parts are also compatible with other nerf guns. Brilliant!

The chargeable packs of additional modules usually contain several parts with which the modulus can be converted. The so-called kits are arranged in themes. We expect the Mission Kit, the Ranged Kit, the Ammo Kit and the Stealth Kit (for the individual kits to come later).

Of course, further kits are conceivable and probably already in the planning. Fortunately, you can also design your “own” the best Nerf Gun ever without extra packs, because a running extension, a target scope, a shoulder and an additional handle are included. The Nerf Modulus comes with five modules, which also fit many other blasters.

The range of the Nerf N-Strike Elite XD Modulus

We know how good the new Modulus flagship is, of course, is of the greatest interest, and we can already tell that the performance is good but not crash. Very pleased us the surprisingly accurate shot. As with all nerf guns, there are outliers, the range and accuracy are very constant. Even the standard mouthpiece almost does not affect the performance (less than the 60cm difference in section).

For optimal performance, it is important to start the Fly-Wheels, which means about 1 second between the shots you should take your time – but this is not Nerf Modulus specific but concerns all semi-automatic Nerf Guns.

If you take this, you get a good 13.5 meters with the weapon you have just held, and some darts can also create the 24-meter mark when you are standing angled. The firing speed is very high, but of course, also depends on the shooter. Semi-automatic blasters still require manual trigger triggering. The full ten magazines can be moved within 3.6 seconds.

Ergonomics and design of the Nerf Modulus

The Nerf N-Strike Elite XD Modulus is a Nerf Stryfe but is also very similar to the Demolisher. However, the white coloring makes it more elegant and modern, almost futuristic. Here is also the intended break to the usual blue of the elite series – the Modulus opens up a whole new, unprecedented kind of nerf blaster. Secondary colors are gray and orange, as well as a light green accent (racing stripe).

In addition to the white, the highly geometrical design and many breakthroughs (for example on the barrel and handle) ensure a futuristic impression. This makes the Nerf Modulus not as bulllike as its design cousin Nerf Demolisher, which means that the edgy appearance makes it technically, cold and aggressive.

The blaster is very good in the hand, especially the gray grip area below the barrel is very convenient for both right and left-handed. Here, therefore, a battery was made from the battery compartment, which holds 4 AA batteries. Pity is only that Hasbro already put on cross-screws instead of a better handleable click mechanism.

The recess on the gun handle may serve the design, palm ventilation, or weight reduction – whatever it may be, many have already noticed after a few rounds that the handle cuts into the palm, and it is, therefore, unpleasant to hold the gun long.

Contrary to the handle the trigger is very well done, it is convenient for large and small hands to reach and large enough for grown Nerf fans. Here is the trigger of our darts on the trip sends, a button that makes the engine howl and the Fly-Wheels starts. We were surprised how quiet the Nerf Modulus is compared to Stryfe.

The possibility of the included shoulder rest is excellent because here we can comfortably accommodate a smaller magazine which holds six darts and serves as a replacement magazine. Regarding design, the brace fits very well into the gray and orange of the Nerf Modulus and acts as if from a cast, although it is held only by two thin plastic tubes. These tubes also turn out to be the main drawback of the shoulder rest because they are extremely pliable and fluffy.

In addition to the possibility of the replacement magazine, the standard Elite XD Modulus shines through 5 Tac Rails, which is also necessary if we want to attach as many additional modules as possible. For example, there is a Tac Rail on the carrying handle of the Nerf Gun which is also the holder for the many different target telescopes. Whoever would like to use the hinged rearview mirror instead.

Below the track is a track on which we can attach the extra grip. By doing so, we increase the distance between the hands and get a different feeling. If the handle is in the way, we can fold it.

As the last out-of-the-box accessory is the run-up to name, it has no other purpose than to enlarge our Nerf Gun visually and give her something more weight. The is unfortunately very wobbly and does not have the clipper to provide a second run extension also, which is however very unstable.

The mouthpiece wobbles to the left and right and can also be turned slightly. He does not seem to do much damage to the shot, but Hasbro is a pity! After all, she brings two additional Tac Rails (up and down), which compensates us for something so that we can fix the shield from the Mission Kit at the end of the muzzle, for example.

Nerf Modulus Blaster Handling

The Nerf Modulus Blaster has very good handling; serious quirks are only the shaky attachments. This affects both the standard run extension and the additional handle. This could have been better solved. Even the flappy shoulder rest is not optimal because we want to press and blast our blaster!

Apart from that, the Nerf Modulus from these points is a round thing and right to use, easy to load (since magazine and not drum) and jammed very rarely. If this happens once, the De-Jamming flap saves us under the traverse.

The weight of the module is well balanced, the batteries do not have a copious effect since the supporting second hand is located and the distance between the hands is well chosen. Also, the flywheel trigger can be easily operated by the middle finger.

On-line, a heated discussion arose as to whether the missing plastic of the target bin was to be considered as a material saving measure. We do not know, but it has good side effects for the handling of the Nerf Modulus because nothing is so filthy and nothing can shine. Finally, Hasbro has always used plastic without magnification, which is why it makes no difference, and the preference of the Nerf fans must decide.

Nerf Modulus Mod

In terms of modding, you can get rid of the Modulus completely – this is also the reason why this Nerf Gun is called “Modulus”: Here you can use all Modulus kits. The special kits for this unique blaster are the following kits:
  • The range kit: aiming telescope, bivouac, and barrel extension make the blaster a sniper rifle that will keep you in check.
  • The Stealth Kit: With a red-point visor, muzzle-mounted shock-absorber and front grip you are also ready for house battles and surprise surge up close.
  • The Mission Kit: A second mini-blaster, which also serves as a shoulder-rest, as well as a clip-on shield that protects your face from bullets.

The Modulus Blaster has countless so-called Tactical Rails, which are simple rails, on which extensions are pushed or clipped. In addition to the included modifying options, you can also see these here: Nerf Modding

Even if the Banus-Clip magazine is included with the Modulus Blaster, all other standard straight magazines can be used.

 Modulus Range Kit

  • Sniper barrel extension
  • Sniper rifle scope
  • Put the two on the weapon

The Nerf Modulus Rage Kit is designed for those who would like to have a cool sniper look. Therefore, there is a run extension, a large target telescope, and a foldable biped. The run could be longer to underline the Sniper property, so we like the design very well.

The Range Kit also has some quirks, so the Zweibein is, eg, very unstable what its meaning somehow torpedoed, besides, it is too short. This means the longer 10-meter magazine prevents the Nerf Elite XD Modulus from being level. This makes it possible to use the dwarf only if you use an elevation/piece of furniture to put your feet on it and the magazine does not touch the surface.

If you fold the two-legged after successful snipers, it blocks the handle for the second hand, since the legs can only be folded backward, not in the direction of the mouth. Only the standard additional handle of the Modulus can be remedied.

The target telescope has no inserted glass but is hollow inside. The timing here is via an orange cross (direction of rotation) and an enclosed circle (shoulder direction). The Modulus Range Kit is particularly suitable for all LARPER who would like to play as scout/sniper.

 Modulus Stealth Kit

  • Pinpoint laser sight
  • Short folding handle
  • Muffler Running gear

The Modulus Stealth Kit comes with a very good-looking “muffler” and something that many Nerf fans have been waiting for a long time, namely a pin-point target telescope! By two small batteries, it throws a red laser spot in the visor, which is simply mega-cool. Before it was extremely difficult to find something like this for his Nerf Gun and now there is the so-called off-the-shelf. Excellent!

The point is that we are seduced by the laser point while aiming to keep the weapon subconsciously a few degrees higher, which results in a better range. Here Hasbro has thought, and we are happy. The laser point is switched on by a small button on the left side of the visor.

The Nerf Stealth Kit certainly lives from this great visor, because unfortunately the folding handle (flaps via orange button) as well as the muffler mouth, which may not affect the performance, but low quality suggests. Modding technically we keep the muffler for the optically best run extension, because of the pattern you can hear much rausholen.

Modulus Mission Kit

  • Pistol as shoulder rest
  • An orange plastic sign

“Mission Impossible” was perhaps the name given to the mission kit, but we could not find Tom Cruise in the pack. Had he needed the orange shield? Who knows, we find in a Nerf War is every bit of protection well and thanks to the numerous Tac Rails at the Nerf Modulus, we can also attach the shield to the side. On the left side of the Nerf Gun, we think it’s the most sense because we can protect the most body there.

Genuine is the mission kit shoulder rest! This does not fit color modus but shoots Darts!

This is, of course, a hammer, because no one has the “emergency solution” always on the man, even without a Jolt in the pocket to have. The performance is as expected at the Jolt level, is also stretched by pulling out a plastic strip on the handle.

The support/gun is a bullet solution and unfortunately, has neither a magazine nor a holder for additional darts. Well, we find that we can insert the dart even if the shoulder rest is attached to the modulus and it equips us with another Tac Rail.

For this meaningful kit, there is a thumb up from us.

The N-Strike Elite XD Nerf Modulus is on the right track and creates a new genre of Nerf Guns. It is true; many modules have weaknesses which do not have to be, in particular, the wobbly connection of handles and running attachments is something a pity.

The good performance and the geniality of the modular principle save the blaster over such inadequacies and allow completely new options for all Nerf fans.

We are already looking forward to furthering add-on modules, but we also strongly advise you exactly what you need from a module kit.
