Before discussing slim smartphone models, let’s examine the evolution of smartphone design.

Our Top Picks

The Evolution of the World’s Slimmest Phone

With growing internet speed, the hardware of phones and other devices also evolved. With additional features, companies began producing what they claim to be the “World’s Slimmest Phone.” What could be better than speedy performance, a captivating camera, and a slim, portable design?

Today is the era of comfort. And that’s where slim phone models get room to grow. In addition, they look incredibly fashionable.

The Best Slim Phones: Top Thin Lightweight Phones We Recommend 2022

Are you looking for the thinnest and slimmest mobile phones or the world? We have curated a selection of thin, lightweight mobile devices for your consideration. I am providing a list of the slimmest and lightest mobile devices for 2022.

1. Vivo X5 Max

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”1″]

We immediately noticed design similarities between the X5Max and the Oppo R5. Both phones are only offered in a single white-and-gray color scheme. They are composed of metal and plastic and have identically chamfered edges. At 153.9 x 78mm, the X5Max is slightly broader and taller than the R5. In addition, the 156-gram weight makes it comfortable to hold. The phone is sturdy due to the use of metal in its construction, including the frame.

The 4.75mm thickness of the X5Max makes it officially the thinnest smartphone available. However, we did not notice a significant difference between the slimness of the X5Max, Gionee Elife S5.1, and Oppo R5. The talk about thinness feels more like a marketing ploy than a practical quality.

The power button and volume rocker are on the device’s right side. Also on the right is a tray that can accommodate two Micro and Nano SIM cards. Interestingly, the same slot that accepts Nano-SIM cards also accepts microSD cards. This precludes the use of two SIMs to increase storage space. This unsatisfactory workaround is only applicable if users are willing to swap cards. The Micro-USB port is on the bottom, while the 3.5mm audio jack is on the top.

The phone has three capacitive buttons below the display for operating system navigation. Vivo has positioned the earpiece, front-facing camera, ambient light and proximity sensors, and the notification LED above the display. A prominent speaker grille is located at the rear base. Also located on the rear is the primary camera, which protrudes slightly (this is now standard for slim smartphones), along with the flash module.

Specifications
  • Processor: Octa-core Mediatek MT6752
  • RAM: 2 GB
  • Storage: 16 GB- expandable upto 256 GB
  • Display: 5.5 inches
  • Camera: 13 MP + 5 MP
  • Operating System: Android 4.4.4 (KitKat)
PROS
  • Full HD Super AMOLED display
  • Powerful Snapdragon 615 chipset
  • Excellent image quality from both the cameras
CONS
  • Not equipped with NFC
  • Small battery capacity
  • Outdated software

2. Oppo R5s

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”2″]

This slim and sleek beauty comes second to the world’s Slimmest Phones, with a thickness of 4.85mm. Let’s examine some additional essential features. The R5 by Oppo is a gorgeous smartphone. It is made of metal, is ultra-thin (4.85mm or 0.19 inches) and weighs only 155 grams (5.5 ounces). If you want to listen to music, you must use Bluetooth headphones because the 3.5mm audio jack has been eliminated.

Android enthusiasts envious of the iPhone 6’s slim body need look no further. The R5’s ultra-slim body trumps the iPhone and will also elicit envious looks from Android users.

But slimness isn’t all that impressive without adequate performance, and this is where the phone falls short. It is frequently slow, and the camera takes an eternity to start up. The phone’s thin frame also contributes to its tendency to become unbearably hot sometimes.

Specifications
  • Release Date: 2015, August
  • Dimensions: 148.9 x 74.5 x 4.9 mm
  • Weight: 155 g
  • Screen: 5.2″, AMOLED

  • Selfi Camera: Single, 5 MP
  • Memory: 32 GB, 3 GB RAM
  • CPU:
  • Battery: 2000 mAh
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, proximity, compass
PROS
  • Thin and sleek design
  • Solid build quality
  • Fantastic display
  • Easy of use
CONS
  • Poor battery life
  • Subpar camera
  • Software bugs

3. Gionee Elife S7

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”3″]

This Gionee smartphone, with a depth of 5.5mm, was introduced in 2015. The body of the Elife S7 is supported by a U-shaped frame made from an aviation-grade aluminum magnesium alloy, as designed by Gionee. This frame’s corners are gently rounded. Front and back panels constructed entirely from Corning Gorilla Glass 3 are contained. The phone is exceptionally sleek, with a thickness of only 5.5mm and a weight of 126.5g. The unit we received for review was black, but it is also available in white and blue.

We appreciate Gionee’s space-efficient design. Despite its 5.2-inch screen, the Elife S7 is compact. It is straightforward to operate with one hand and almost rivals the LG G3 in terms of ergonomics. The glass back, however, attracts fingerprints and dust.

The volume rocker and power button on the phone’s right side have excellent tactile feedback despite protruding only slightly from the metal frame. On the right is the SIM card tray, which accepts two Nano-SIMs. The Micro-USB port, 3.5mm jack, speaker grille, and primary microphone for phone calls are located on the Elife S7. Gionee has opted for on-screen buttons for operating system navigation. Above the display are the earpiece, the front camera, and the ambient light sensor: the rear-mounted primary camera and LED flash.

Specifications
  • Release Date: 2015, March
  • Dimensions: 148.8 x 72.4 x 5.5 mm
  • Weight: 125.3 g
  • Screen: 5.2″, Super AMOLED
  • Main Camera: Single, 13 MP
  • Selfi Camera: Single, 8 MP
  • Memory: 16 GB, 2 GB RAM
  • CPU:
  • Battery: 2700 mAh
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, proximity, compass
PROS
  • Stylish looks
  • Slim, yet solid
  • Smooth performance
  • Capable pair of cameras
  • Featurerich Amigo OS
  • Good battery life
CONS
  • Heats up when stressed
  • Fixed internal storage

4. Samsung Galaxy A8

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”4″]

With a 5.9mm thickness and a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display, this smartphone makes the list of the world’s slimmest phones. We’re pleased that Samsung abandoned plastic for a combination of glass and metal on its A-series devices in 2016, and that hasn’t changed here. In terms of appearance and feel, the Galaxy A8 resembles the Galaxy S8.

Aside from a few minor details, the Audi A8 is easy to confuse with its premium sibling. The display lacks dual curved edges, but the bezels are thin, allowing the screen to occupy most of the front.

It has a 75 percent screen-to-body ratio, compared to 83 percent on the S8.

As with the Samsung Galaxy S8, the home button is absent, and the fingerprint scanner is located on the device’s rear. As with the most recent Galaxy S9, it’s much easier to reach and use the controls underneath the camera than beside it.

There is no dedicated Bixby button on the side, a minor difference from the Galaxy S8 and S9. This does not concern us very much.

At 8.4mm, it is slightly thicker than the S8 and the A7 from the previous year, but it does not feel chunky. At 172 grams, it’s not the lightest handset, but it doesn’t feel cumbersome either.

Samsung continues to perform admirably by providing IP68 waterproofing (up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes) and a headphone jack. Despite the glass rear cover, which, like most, is a little slippery, there is no wireless charging.

Specifications
  • Processor: Samsung Exynos 7885, 64-bit Processor
  • RAM: 4GB, LPDDR4x, 1600MHz
  • Storage: 32GB/64GB
  • Display: 5.6 inches
  • Camera: 16MP / 16MP+8P
  • Battery: Non-Removable 3,000 mAh Lithium
PROS
  • Futuristic design, logical fingerprint scanner positioning
  • Class-leading Super AMOLED screen
  • Great battery life at 92 hours, fast charging
  • Excellent choice of processor with powerful A73 cores
  • Impressive image quality (both rear and selfie) for the class
CONS
  • No 4K video recording
  • Mediocre GPU
  • No Oreo at launch
  • Pricey

5. Huawei P8

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”5″]

The Huawei P8 has all the necessary ingredients for a top-tier smartphone, but something went wrong during the baking process. The lower price point is advantageous, but flagship models can rest easily. The Huawei P8 features a 5.2-inch full HD display and a metal unibody design that measures just 6.4mm thick, making it thinner than the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6. I found the P8 to be well-balanced, manageable with one hand, and luxurious in appearance and feel.

The slightly rounded, chamfered edges provide a little extra grip, but the utterly flat back and ultra-thin 6.4mm profile make it uncomfortable to hold. However, it fits comfortably in a pocket.

Huawei emphasized how sturdy the P8’s aluminum unibody is. While there’s no apparent cause for concern in bendability, I look forward to others applying more pressure to see if it bends like the iPhone 6 Plus.

Specifications
  • Processor: Hisilicon Kirin 620 64bit
  • RAM: 2GB RAM
  • Storage: 16GB ROM
  • Display: 5.0 inch 1280 x 720 (HD 720) Capacitive Screen
  • Camera: Back camera: 13.0MP, with flash light + Front camera: 5.0MP
  • Battery: Android 5.0
PROS
  • Excellent price
  • Elegant design and good choice of colors and textures
  • Small size and large screen
  • Good CPU power
  • No bloatware
CONS
  • Poor graphics performance
  • Buggy software
  • No app drawer

6. Vivo X5 pro

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”6″]

The Vivo X5Pro, another in a long line of X5 models, is perhaps the most well-balanced of the bunch. The X5Max is the thinnest, the Platinum edition has a monstrous battery, and even the standard X5 stands out, albeit for the wrong reason due to its 720p display.

The Vivo X5Pro is visually comparable to the X5Max, but there are a few distinguishing characteristics. The Pro is thicker than the Max at 6.4mm. In addition, the X5Pro has rounded edges, a different back, and a smaller 5.2-inch display (though it retains the 1080×1920 pixel resolution). The Super AMOLED display is fantastic; it is sharp and detailed, and its colors are incredibly vibrant and enthralling. It is among the best full-HD displays on a smartphone we’ve seen.

Overall, the Vivo X5Pro is a well-built and well-designed device that meets the benchmarks established by premium device manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, Sony, and Motorola. We’re impressed by the aesthetic appeal of this phone, as well as the way the X5Pro feels in hand and its slim metal-and-glass construction.

Specifications
  • Processor: Octa-core Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615
  • RAM: 2 GB
  • Storage: 16 GB- expandable upto 256 GB
  • Display: 5.2 inches
  • Camera: 13 MP + 8 MP
  • Operating System: Android 5.0 (Lollipop)
PROS
  • Super AMOLED display
  • Slim design with metal frames
  • Good performance
CONS
  • Bad camera
  • Priced expensively
  • Second-SIM slot works as microSD card expansion.

7. ZTE Grand S

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”7″]

With the Grand S, ZTE aims to introduce China to the American smartphone market. The phone features some of the exact specifications as the leading Android phones: It features a 5″ HD display, a 13 MP camera, and is remarkably thin and light. However, the Grand S is not a great phone. The ZTE’s battery life is one of its most significant flaws. The ZTE was the first device in our tests to die after only 4 hours of video streaming. The Grand S has a dated processor and only 3G data connectivity compared to LG and Samsung’s flagship smartphones.

Our consumer testers found the Android 4.1 operating system easy to use, read, navigate, and type. Several testers also found the lock screen to be unintuitive and the vibrational feedback to be unpleasant. The ZTE is an unlocked phone that can be used with AT&T or T-Mobile service in the United States.

The ZTE Grand S does not stand out among the best available Android phones. If you are looking for an unlocked phone at a reasonable price, the Nexus 5 is the better option.

Specifications
  • Release Date: 2013, November
  • Dimensions: 143 x 70 x 8.9 mm

  • Screen: 5″, IPS LCD

  • Memory: 16 GB, 1 GB RAM

  • Sensors: Accelerometer, proximity
PROS
  • Great display quality
  • Easy to type on
  • Slim and portable
  • Easy to read on
  • Easy to navigate
CONS
  • Poor battery life
  • Subpar camera
  • Subpar speaker quality
  • Subpar performance – not ideal for running the newest Android games and visual apps
  • Unpleasant to hold in hand

8. Xiaomi 11 lite NE 5G

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”8″]

In addition to adapting the Lite model of the current 11 series to the latest naming convention with the New Edition (NE) model and removing “Mi” from its name, Xiaomi equips it with a more recent SoC and new color options. In all other respects, the Mi 11 Lite 5G successor retains the merits of its predecessor, the Mi 11 Lite.

Xiaomi specifies a building height of 6.81 mm, but we measured 7.1 mm. The camera protrudes up to 1.8 millimeters from the case, but the 11 Lite overall has a slim profile. Additionally, the artistry appears to be of high caliber. Unlike its predecessor, which utilized Corning Gorilla Glass 6, the NE model now employs the older version 5. The matte glass back is visually appealing and conceals fingerprints exceptionally well. The gap dimensions are uniform and close-fitting. The black plastic frame surrounding the display slightly detracts from the premium exterior.

The IP53 certification, which at least indicates that the smartphone is splash-proof, is likely still present, but it is no longer listed in official specifications. The SIM slot is slightly recessed, as it is not flush with the frame. It can accommodate either two nano SIM cards or a microSD card instead of the second nano SIM card.

  • Dimensions: 160.5 x 75.7 x 6.8 mm

  • Sensors: Fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass

  • Excellent battery life, even better than before.
  • Loud stereo speakers
  • Excellent daylight photo and video quality across all cameras, including Night mode.
  • Android 11, feature-rich MIUI 12.5, Super Wallpapers.
  • Same CPU performance as Mi 11 Lite 5G, and 8GB version costs as much as 6GB Mi 11 Lite 5G.
CONS
  • Notable drop in GPU performance compared to the original Mi 11 Lite 5G.
  • More powerful alternatives in the same price range came out in the last 5 months.

9. Vivo V21e

CONS

10. Vivo V23

The Vivo V23 (5G) is the most recent sleek phone with a stunning design sure to impress. It has a thickness of 7.5 mm and weighs 180 grams. The back of the phone has a design that, when exposed to sunlight, changes color from golden to greenish. It is priced at Rs. 29,990 (8 GB Ram, 128 GB Storage).

The mobile device features a 6.44-inch Fluid AMOLED display with FHD+ (2400×1080) resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz.

  • RAM: 8 GB, 12 GB
  • Storage: 128 GB, 256 GB
  • Display: 6.44 inches
  • Camera: Triple Camera
  • Battery: Li-Po 4200 mAh
PROS
  • Trendy iPhone-inspired design. Sturdy aluminum frame. UV-sensitive back panel is a nice party trick.
  • The 90Hz, HDR10+ display has good performance, but slightly worse than the vivo V23 Pro.
  • Excellent battery life and very fast 44W charging.
  • Funtouch OS 12 now with Android 12 underneath offers great performance and customization.
  • The new Dimensity 920 chip is a solid all-round performer. Runs cool and is quite battery efficient.
  • Truly great selfie and video experience from the 50MP selfie cam.
  • The two dual-tone selfie LED "spotlights" are excellent in practice.
  • A truly great vlogging experience.
CONS
  • No ingress protection. Last year's Scott Xensation Up protective glass instead of the new flagship Xensation α found on the vivo V23 Pro.
  • No SD card slot, no 3.5mm audio jack.
  • Poor automatic refresh rate switching and underwhelming color accuracy.
  • Just a single, mostly underwhelming bottom-firing speaker.
  • 16MP shots from the main camera tend to be overprocessed and a bit soft. Both the back and front ultrawide cameras are a bit inconsistent and lag behind the other cameras.

Smartphones: The Continuous Rivalry

Consumers have numerous options when selecting a smartphone or other smart device. Today’s customers expect innovative technology, a stylish or alluring design, a positive user experience, and portability. Smartphone manufacturers are making every effort to meet all expectations.

Loading features are no longer sufficient. People also desire to make an impression on their peer groups. Therefore, product presentation is an integral part of this business.

Leading smartphone manufacturing companies are competitive in introducing phones with the best features under a specific budget. There is constant tension because new devices are being launched swiftly. Once upon a time, a single company dominated the market for several years. Nevertheless, given how modern revolutions are introduced, an underdog can quickly rise to the top.

Technology is an ever-expanding industry with no ceiling in sight. The consumer receives a superior product due to the expansion of technology, particularly devices. Because every company wants to improve its product, they are eager to invest in high-quality research and development.

Several categories have been developed to sort products according to what customers desire most. Smartphone manufacturers began releasing camera phones, gaming devices, and the slimmest and lightest mobile phones in this manner.
