[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”1″]

The recently released BlackShark V2 is the best Razer headset in a competitive market. It is one of the best, if not the best, Razer headsets I have tested in, well, ever and a very deserving occupant of this top position.

  • Feels cheap at first

2. Best value Razer headset: Razer Kraken - Cross-Platform Wired Gaming Headset

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”2″]

There is a reason why the Razer Kraken is the most recent version of Razer’s famous and well-liked headset. It provides excellent sound at a reasonable price and is compatible with many devices. This well-liked Razer headset is lightweight and, despite the large earcups, can be worn comfortably for extended gaming sessions. The midrange is somewhat murky, but the bass is quite powerful. The fully retractable, unidirectional microphone enables explicit voice chat, and oval or circular ear cushions are available for selection. This is it if you’re looking for an effective Razer headset for less than £100/$100. There is even a stripped-down version of the Kraken called the Kraken X(opens in new tab) that retains many of the headset’s positive qualities but is slightly repackaged and less expensive.

Key Features
  • Custom-Tuned 50 Mm Drivers: Provides a wide soundscape, from subtle footsteps sneaking up behind you to climatic explosions that blow you away.
  • Cooling Gel-Infused Ear Cushions: Reduces heat build-up, while a soft cloth and leatherette combination provides comfort and sound isolation, so you can enjoy gaming for hours.
  • Unidirectional Retractable Microphone: Ensure your shotcalls are always delivered in absolute clarity.

PROS
  • Comfortable ear cups with cooling technology
  • Great audio quality
  • Quality bass
  • Stylish and robust
CONS
  • Minor improvements on previous iteration
  • Lacks surround sound

3. Razer Kraken V3 Pro Wireless Gaming Headset

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”3″]

The Razer Kraken V3 Pro is the flagship model of the gaming hardware titan’s most recent Kraken-range refresh. And it’s not just a simple product line refresh; this is a radical departure from previous Krakens and an improvement in nearly every way. And it is currently one of the best Razer headsets you can buy.

The V3 Pro offers formidable firepower, which comes in two forms. First to adopt the most recent audio innovations and developments from Razer. The drivers are exquisite and provide a wide range of detail across the sound spectrum; you can hear enemy footsteps, the wind howling, and gunfire, in particular, is a delight. It is also excellent for music and meetings. It’s a little trebly out of the box by default, so tinkering is worthwhile and relatively simple in Synapse.

The second area in which the headset is armed is haptic feedback technology. I’m a fan of this – I used the Nari Ultimate for years – and this is a feature that enhances immersion more than ever before. Four settings (including ‘off’) allow for a bit of customization, and when played in a single-player, it is a feature worth praising. The one drawback of the haptics is that teammates and friends speaking to you will also set off the rumble, which can be a bit annoying; perhaps the next generation of haptics will be able to distinguish between in-game audio to enhance and chat audio to ignore…

The microphone is a minor flaw, with teammates and coworkers noting that I sounded a little thin, tinny, and lacking in depth, but our communication was never hindered, so it doesn’t bring the headset down.

Overall, Razer’s latest wireless gaming headset is a worthy investment; it has replaced my BlackShark V2 Pro as my daily headset.

Key Features
  • Razer HyperSense: Converting sound signals into vibrations in real time, the headset provides tactile feedback from within the earcups with an intensity level that’s controlled from a convenient on-headset button
  • Razer TriForce Titanium 50mm Drivers: Our patented 3 ign pushes out exceptional highs, mids and lows that doesn’t muddy, providing a more dynamic listening experience for deeper im-part driver desmersion
  • THX Spatial Audio: With our advanced 7.1 surround sound, enjoy true-to-life acoustics that optimizes your game’s sound design so you can hear everything as if you were right in the middle of it all
  • Razer HyperSpeed Wireless Technology: The headset’s industry-leading 2.4GHz wireless connection ensures lossless, low-latency audio that syncs perfectly with game visuals, so you’ll never experience a break in immersion
  • Hybrid Fabric and Leatherette Memory Foam Cushions: The snug, close-fitting earcups not only provide superior sound isolation and comfort, but allow you to feel the full haptic feedback from its drivers for full-blown immersion
  • Detachable Razer HyperClear Supercardioid Mic: Be heard loud and clear with a detachable mic that’s fine-tuned to suppress background noise for enhanced voice capture during gaming
PROS
  • Great audio quality
  • Very comfortable
  • Haptics are excellent
  • Solid design
CONS
  • Dearer than some of the competition
  • Mic is a bit tinny and thin

4. Best cheap wired Razer headset: Razer Kaira X Wired Headset

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”4″]

Even though it’s an ‘X’ variant, the Kaira X for PlayStation is a worthy contender for those seeking great sound at the $60 / £60 price point – which, in our opinion, is exceptional value for a Razer-quality headset.

And this point is essential to the greatness of this headset: the price-to-performance ratio is outstanding. In our testing, we discovered that the sound quality provided by the headset’s TriForce 50mm drivers was predictably excellent and uncompromising, with full bass, rich mids, and tight, exquisite highs. In addition, we found the mix and surround sound to be perfect for the price. The mic is sturdy but lacks the warmth and richness of more expensive headsets.

Yes, the Kaira X for PlayStation is a wired headset, which is a primary reason this is a budget option. However, the cord is braided, has a solid right-angle connection, and is the perfect length for having enough slack without being too long.

For the price and as a simple wired headset, we cannot recommend this excellent Razer headset enough – plus, the audio connection makes it compatible with multiple platforms. Nice.

Key Features
  • Razer TriForce 50mm Drivers: The Razer Kaira X features cutting-edge drivers that can tune highs, mids, and lows separately—producing brighter, clearer sound with richer trebles and more powerful bass
  • Razer HyperClear Cardioid Mic: The bendable mic has improved housing and pickup for amazing voice capture that suppresses noise from the back and sides—supported by mic monitoring and game/chat balance to ensure optimal levels
  • Flowknit Memory Foam Ear Cushions: Its breathable weave minimizes sweat and heat build-up, while the ultra-soft foam’s improved density greatly reduces the headset’s clamping force for snug support during gaming marathons
  • On-headset Controls: Toggle settings easily for on-the-fly adjustments with a microphone mute button and volume slider located conveniently underneath the left earcup
  • Cross-platform Compatibility: Aside from its primary use on PlayStation 5, the headset’s 3.5mm jack enables compatibility with other popular platforms, PC, Mac & mobile devices
PROS
  • Excellent audio quality
  • Comfortable fit
  • Good value
CONS
  • Ear cups get a bit hot
  • A little quiet by default

5. Razer Nari Ultimate Wireless Gaming Headset

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”5″]

The Razer Nari Ultimate is the top headset in the Razer lineup. L5 haptic drivers that provide modulated feedback to immerse you in action distinguish the Nari Ultimate from the Nari Essential and Nari itself. With HyperSense haptic technology-enhanced clarity and bass, you’ll experience a high level of sound and immersion.

The Nari Ultimate adds a previously unheard-of dimension to your gaming experience, as it was designed with single-player games in mind. Moreover, it is equally suited to blockbuster action films and music as video games.

The 3.5mm jack makes this a versatile headset that can be used with various devices. It is wirelessly compatible with PC, PS4, and PS5.

Key Features

6. Best Razer headset for PS5: Razer Kaira Pro Dual Wireless Gaming Headset

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”6″]

Razer Kaira Pro for PlayStation is the most accessible headset recommended for PS5 and next-gen consoles.

The headset is aesthetically similar to the Xbox Kaira line, which was released before the PlayStation Kaira line, and has a white and black color scheme to complement the console. Including Razer’s newest haptic feedback technology is, however, one of our key selling points. The inclusion of this feature wowed us during testing and made this Razer headset stand out as a set that will add to and improve immersion.

The haptics only requires the existence of audio frequency to function, which is impressive. Still, we found the one drawback with this to be that your teammates and friends speaking to you will also set them off, which is somewhat annoying – perhaps the next generation of haptics will be able to distinguish between in-game audio and chat audio to ignore.

However, when the haptics in the Kaira Pro was paired with a DualSense, our gaming experience was transformed into a genuinely thrilling and immersive ride (you can disable them if that’s not your thing). Then, you’ll be treated to the Kaira Pro’s excellent audio quality, which performs exceptionally well from the deepest bass to the highest-pitched notes.

Despite extensive testing, we discovered that the mic could be improved, as my friends said I sounded a bit tinny and thin. However, this is not a significant drawback for what is otherwise an excellent PS5 wireless headset.

Key Features
  • Razer HyperSense: Converting sound signals into vibrations in real time, the Razer Kaira Pro provides tactile feedback from within the earcups with an intensity level that’s controlled via the Razer Audio App
  • TriForce Titanium 50mm Drivers: With titanium-coated diaphragms for added clarity, these drivers can tune highs, mids, and lows separately—producing rich, full-range sound for deeper gaming immersion
  • Detachable HyperClear Supercardioid Mic: Experience greater noise rejection from the sides and back plus better voice isolation that’s supported by mic monitoring and game/chat balance for optimal audio levels
  • Razer SmartSwitch: Easily switch between audio from your console and phone for total convenience while gaming
  • Low-Latency Bluetooth with Quick Connect: Toggle Gaming Mode via the Razer Audio App to reduce latency for smoother mobile gameplay – utilize its Quick Connect feature to switch between previously connected devices with just one tap
  • Powered by Chroma RGB: Personalize the headset’s lighting via the Razer Chroma RGB app on Android/iOS
  • Compatible with PlayStation 5 (PS5), PS4, PC, Mobile, devices with Bluetooth audio capacity
PROS
  • Great audio quality
  • Very comfortable
  • Haptics are excellent
  • Solid design
CONS
  • Mic is a bit tinny and thin

7. Best Razer headset for PS4: Razer Thresher Wireless Gaming Headset

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”7″]

The Razer Thresher is a genuinely exquisite Razer headset in every way: it has a quality build and design, some of the best sound available for Razer PS4 headsets, a retractable quality mic, a neat optical-to-dongle audio setup, and drivers that can carry the most significant boom to the tiniest tweet, and also ensure you can hear your teammates over both.

The Razer Thresher has replaced my Sony Platinum PS4 headset due to its superior low-end range and microphone, which transmits far less extra noise to my teammates – the retractable boom mic on this generation of Razer headsets is still excellent, in my opinion.

Now, there are several variants of the Razer Thresher PS4 theme still available, but regardless of which you choose, you will be highly pleased with the results. If pressed, I would likely say that saving more money for the 7.1 version or the Ultimate version is worth the upgrade. The prices displayed above represent the remaining inventory of PS4 Threshers. And the word available is crucial at the moment, as it is likely nearing the end of its actual lifespan – you can frequently find it out of stock with Razer – as the emphasis will shift toward various PS5 headsets.

But, if you’re looking for a perfect wireless Razer headset for your PS4 (without Nari’s other rumble and haptics, for example) that will last you a long time, support you on PC, provide audio excellence, and provide quality chat and game sound. The Razer Thresher is the headset for you.

Key Features
  • Wired or Wireless. The Choice is Yours. – When unwinding with a couple of rounds at home, enjoy total freedom via a 2.4 GHz wireless connection
  • Instant Access to Controls – Convenient on-headset controls enable mic monitoring and master volume control instantly without disrupting your game
  • Comfort That Lasts – The lightweight ear cushions are made of memory foam and leatherette, so they effortlessly conform to the unique shape of your head
  • Hear You Loud and Clear – Always keep volume levels in check with the mic monitoring function, keeping communication between teammates clear and true-to-life, even in noisy environments
  • The Razer Thresher for PS4’s circumaural design with powerful 50 mm driver units deliver crystal clear audio that is incredibly life-like—closing the gap between game and reality
PROS
  • Awesome sound quality
  • Great design and build
  • Neat PS4 audio/port connection
  • Very comfortable
  • Decent battery life
CONS
  • Fluctuating stock now we're in the PS5 generation

8. Razer Nari Ultimate for Xbox

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”8″]

The vibration technology incorporated into these Hypersense-enabled haptic headphones offers something different from other Razer headsets. Particularly enjoyable for louder action and shooting games, you can feel the impact of every booming explosion, pounding bass, and even heavy footsteps in games like Doom.

The audio quality is also exceptional. We were incredibly impressed with the spatial audio that gave audio landscapes a surround sound-like finish, making games like Red Dead Redemption 2 much more immersive and letting us know which side ambushes were coming from.

Remember that these are Bluetooth-only Xbox controllers; there is no wired connection. This is not a deal-breaker but something to keep in mind. Several times, for instance, the signal dropped, resulting in an unpleasant audio crunching before returning.

Nonetheless, it does not ruin an otherwise enjoyable experience. Comfort is essential when considering the best Razer gaming headsets, and the Razer Nari Ultimate is an exceptionally comfortable pair of headphones. Even after hours of play, the soft gel-infused cushions prevented our ears from overheating.

However, a word of caution: the vibrations are not for everyone. Although vibration intensity is adjustable via a convenient scroll wheel on the side of the headphones, we discovered that there are not a lot of subtleties. It is either all-out, almost all-out, or nothing at all. If you’re the type of gamer who doesn’t even like your controller to vibrate, these may not be for you, and the price of the Razer Nari Ultimate is a bit steep if you’re not going to use that feature.

Key Features
  • The Best-Selling Gaming Peripherals Manufacturer in the US: Source – The NPD Group, Inc. U.S. Retail Tracking Service, Keyboards, Mice, PC Headset/Pc Microphone, Gaming Designed, based on dollar sales, 2017-2021
  • Compatibility: Wireless only—native wireless connection support with Xbox One (no receiver required); PC compatible via Microsoft Wireless Adapter (not included)
  • Razer Hypersense Haptic Feedback for Unparalleled Immersion: Provides industry-leading audio realism for intense, in-game immersion and positional accuracy coupled with Windows Sonic 7.1 surround sound
  • Lightweight & Auto-Adjusting Headband for Extended Gaming Sessions: The Nari Ultimate for Xbox One adapts to the shape of the user’s head for convenient comfort
  • Retractable Mic with Audio Adjustment: Tune game/chat balance for the perfect mix of game audio and team communication; also includes a volume adjustment wheel and mic mute button directly on the headset
  • Soft Cloth Cushions with Cooling Gel: Reduces heat build-up while providing comfort and sound isolation for hours of comfort
  • Up to 20 Hour Battery Life: Lasts 20 hours with Hypersense disabled, up to 6 hours enabled
PROS
  • Very comfortable
  • Decent surround sound
  • Hypersense is fantastic for action gaming
CONS
  • Haptic feedback isn't for everyone

9. Razer Kraken Tournament Edition

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”9″]

The Razer Kraken Tournament Edition is a flexible headset compatible with virtually any device. It’s available in Razer neon green but also in black, which is a relief for those who prefer something a bit more subdued. The THX Spatial audio and the bass are the most attractive features, which can be adjusted to 17 levels to create the ideal audio profile. You can change the sound on the amplifier or through the Razer Synapse 3 software to achieve the perfect balance for both games and movies.

Key Features
  • THX 7.1 Surround Sound Capable: Provides industry-leading audio realism for in-game immersion by providing accurate spatial audio information beyond standard 7.1 surround sound directional cues
  • Sound Built for Immersive Gaming: Outfitted with custom-tuned 50 mm drivers
  • All-day Comfort: Oval, cooling gel-infused cushions that prevent overheating and pressure build-up
  • Retractable Noise Canceling Microphone: An improved cardioid mic reduces background and ambient noises for crystal-clear communication
  • In-line Audio Controls: Includes an analog volume control wheel and mic mute switch
PROS
  • Compatible with a range of devices
  • Bass control with 17 adjustable levels
  • Game/ Chat balance
  • THX Spatial Audio
CONS
  • Bulky form factor
  • Headset needs to be connected to an amp

10. Razer Kraken V3 X Gaming Headset

[content-egg module=AmazonNoApi template=item groups=”10″]

The Kraken V3 X is the latest headset in Razer’s renowned Kraken series and the latest in the ‘X’ series of Kraken, which aimed to provide an entry-level gaming headset. In conclusion, the V3 X surpasses its predecessor in every way and incorporates some of Razer’s most recent innovations.

The headset has been updated with Razer’s most recent developments and enhancements, but the microphone and drivers have received the most attention. The microphone is now Razer’s Hyperclear Cardioid mic, with improved speech pickup and noise cancellation. The drivers are now Razr’s own excellent TriForce beasts, offering improvements across the entire sound spectrum.

In actual, day-to-day, and gaming use, we still found the sound to be excellent, and the 7.1 still excels on PC – this is still a PC-first gaming headset – despite being a bit tinnier than the top-tier BlackShark headsets. The mic is also an excellent upgrade, although its inability to be detached may irritate some users. However, for the price, this is a perfect gaming headset, especially for those looking to get into PC gaming headsets, and it has all of the audio excellence hallmarks of Razer.

Key Features
  • The #1 Best-Selling Gaming Peripherals Manufacturer in the US: Source – The NPD Group, Inc. U.S. Retail Tracking Service, Keyboards, Mice, PC Headset/Pc Microphone, Gaming Designed, based on dollar sales, 2017-2021
  • Immersive, 7.1 Surround Sound for Positional Audio: Heighten your match awareness and let nothing escape your ears with accurate positional audio that lets you pinpoint intuitively where every sound is coming from
  • Ultra-Light Build: Engineered to be extremely light at just 285g, experience superior audio as you game for hours without being weighed down by your headset
  • Razer HyperClear Cardioid Mic: An improved pickup pattern ensures more voice and less noise as it tapers off towards the mic’s back and sides, with the sweet spot easily placed at your mouth because of the mic’s bendable design
  • Powered by Razer Chroma RGB: Customizable earcup lighting and greater game immersion, with access to 16.8 million colors and a suite of lighting effects, apply your preferred settings and watch it work seamlessly with over 150 games and 500 devices across more than 50 partners.
PROS
  • Brilliant 7.1 surround sound on PC
  • Comfy
  • Affordable
CONS
  • Non-detachable mic
  • 7.1 only on PC
  • Only USB connection

Factors to Consider to choosing the best Razer Headsets

You should always consider the product’s most important characteristics when upgrading hardware. This will ensure that the product meets your needs, saving you time, money, and stress.

Numerous factors must be considered when purchasing a gaming headset. Sound quality, isolation, microphone quality, comfort, surround sound, and wireless support are all significant factors that can exponentially increase the cost of a headset.

In light of this, let’s discuss how each affects your headset and what you require versus what you can do without.

Sound Quality

As an unheard footstep can be the difference between winning and losing, the sound quality of a gaming headset is unquestionably a crucial factor. Choosing a headset with the highest possible sound quality should be your top priority.

The sound quality of Razer headsets is generally quite good. Most are designed with gaming, so you’ll likely have excellent spatial awareness.

Microphone Quality

There are a variety of situations in which a person might require a microphone with broadcast-quality recording – Twitch streaming being a prime example. In light of this, it should be no surprise that a gaming headset microphone will likely not be as high-quality as a standalone mic.

Consequently, if you’re serious about competitive esports, you’ll probably want to utilize the best microphone available. Fortunately, Razer recognizes this and strives to equip all headsets with good microphones.

Surround Sound

Generally speaking, surround sound is a feature implemented in headsets to enhance immersion and sound quality. With many Razer products offering 7.1 virtual surround sound, it is essential to understand what this feature provides.

Surround sound works a bit differently than most gaming headsets, increasing the volume to help pinpoint the location of enemies. Virtual surround sound implements minor delays in the opposite ear and a few other processing tricks to more accurately simulate the direction from which a sound emanates.

In conclusion, you may want to consider surround sound if you are an avid gamer. If you’re not, however, you can probably do without this feature.

Comfort

Purchasing a comfortable headset is essential, especially if you plan to wear it for extended periods. There are a variety of forms and grades of comfort, with plush leather and memory foam being near the top of the list.

In terms of comfort, however, Razer is somewhat inconsistent. While their luxury offerings provide good comfort, their more affordable options are not the best in this regard. Be mindful that comfortable materials will increase the cost of your headset. If you can do without it, you will save some money.

Wired Vs. Wireless Razer Headsets

Before purchasing a gaming headset, one of the most critical questions is whether you prefer a wired or wireless connection. If you cannot function without a wireless connection, you’ll be pleased to know that Razer offers an abundance of wireless headsets. However, the most significant issue with wireless headsets is the added cost associated with this premium feature.

Aside from additional costs, it is always important to note that all wireless headsets will experience interference. This can significantly hinder players of competitive games like CS: GO. If you can afford one of these premium headsets and play more casual fun, you will be more than satisfied with their convenience.

Isolation

Isolation is a great feature I would like to see on most gaming headsets. However, gaming headsets are not the best in this regard in the real world.

Isolation is a feature of a headset that blocks outside ambient noise that could otherwise be distracting while playing a video game. Manufacturers attempt to create isolation by utilizing specific materials and earcup designs. However, not all use this feature to its fullest extent. Don’t be too disheartened if your headset doesn’t provide exceptional isolation; few do.
