The Best Rated Cordless Leaf Blowers Reviews

A leaf blower is your best tool for cleaning up all kinds of yard debris, including piles of leaves, grass clippings after mowing, and trash after a thunderstorm. Every year, Consumer Reports tests a wide range of leaf blowers to find the best models. Determine which configuration is best for your yard before you begin shopping.

Leaf blowers direct a large volume of air toward fallen leaves using a gas engine or an electric motor. If you keep adding fuel, gas models can run indefinitely, making them ideal for large properties with many trees.

Electric leaf blowers, both corded and battery-powered, start instantly, require no engine maintenance, and are better for the environment. Leaf blowers differ in their fuel type and how they are configured for the user. The majority are handheld, while others are attached to a wearable backpack. Others resemble massive, wheeled fans.

When decaying leaves litter your yard in autumn, leaf blowers are necessary. If you want the convenience and portability of a cordless model, read our review of the best cordless leaf blowers that will keep your yard, porch, and driveway free of leaves throughout the year.

1. Best Overall: EGO Power+ LB6504 650 Cordless Leaf Blower

The EGO Power+ cordless, battery-powered leaf blower is our top pick due to its rapid charging and 90-minute run time. On its turbo setting, this electric leaf blower has a maximum speed of 180 miles per hour and a maximum force of 650 cubic feet per minute (CFM). Even on low, it can operate for up to 200 minutes, allowing you to clean more of your yard per charge. In turbo mode, the battery will last for 15 minutes.  There are essentially only two specifications to consider when purchasing a leaf blower. The CFM, or cubic feet per minute, represents the amount of air the blower moves through the nozzle. And wind speed or how much “power” or “lift” you will receive to move heavier debris such as wet leaves and small branches.  The EGO provides 650 CFM (turbo) and 225 to 500 CFM (variable speed dial) of airflow. The maximum wind speed is 180 miles per hour, with lower rates obtainable via the speed dial. Let’s see if this is sufficient to clear an average-sized yard of autumn leaves.  While the turbo button allows you to reach a staggering 650 CFM, you will find that you only need it for the most stubborn of obstacles. In reality, you will require significantly less power than 650 CFM when deftly maneuvering your leaf pile. This is where the variable speed knob comes in handy, allowing you to dial in the amount of power required to move the leaves to the desired location.  We appreciate the locking feature on the variable speed dial. This reduces thumb and finger fatigue compared to models requiring constant force to adjust the speeds. Since this is a high-powered blower, most of your work will be done at lower speeds; therefore, you need a way to maintain these speeds without holding a button down continuously. This has already been discussed, but it bears repeating how much power this EGO blower provides thanks to its electric motor. The turbo button provides 650 CFM of airflow and over 180 mph wind speed to remove wet, tenacious leaves from grass and difficult-to-reach bushes.  The assembly of the blower kit for use is straightforward. The plastic tube slides onto the motor and clicks into place. Likewise, so do the nozzles (one is round and the other tapered for extra focusing of the blower). Once the battery is fully charged (approximately one hour), it can be easily attached beneath the handle.  The design of the 650 CFM unit by EGO is quite good. As we have come to expect from EGO, the blower kit is sleek, durable, and has a beautiful finish. There are a few brands that are difficult to disentangle. The EGO leaf blower makes a favorable first impression due mainly to its effortless assembly.  Overall, it was a highly effective leaf blower. With this power range and wind speed, an electric cordless model provides the same power as a gas-powered blower. You really cannot ask for more.  For its capabilities, this blower is light to moderate in weight. Blowing for extended periods can cause hand fatigue. Get the shoulder strap to make working for more extended periods easier. In addition to purchasing additional batteries or a backpack, you have the ideal solution for your tedious fall leaf collection and cleanup.

2. Best Budget: KIMO Cordless Leaf Blower

As a homeowner, there are always maintenance tasks to complete. The battle against leaves, tree nuts, and Juniper needles is never-ending at our residence. Reviewing KIMO’s 20V cordless leaf blower sounded like an excellent opportunity to see if I could reduce the time and effort required to keep up with this chore.  The KIMO Cordless Leaf Blower is a 2-in-1 product that combines a blower with a vacuum function in a much more compact design than I anticipated. The 20V system’s detachable battery, collection bag, and tube make it highly compact for storage.  With a removable battery and segmented tube, the KIMO blower is constructed similarly to various rechargeable power tools. With both tubes attached, the total assembled length is only 30 inches, and it weighs only 3 pounds, making it very easy to use. Attaching the tube to the right side and the collection bag to the front transforms it into a vacuum.  The quick charger provides a full charge in approximately one hour and is also user-friendly. Ergonomics aside, it’s much easier to get a device of this size into the car to vacuum out the footwells, and I don’t have to worry about a rolling canister at the end of a hose slamming into the side of the car when I pull on it. The collection bag protrudes awkwardly from the front and causes some obstruction, so it is, at best, awkward.  The KIMO Cordless Leaf Blower performs admirably for light to moderate household tasks related to its namesake activity. And while it technically functions as a vacuum, which I may occasionally use to clean my car, I’ll primarily use it to keep the driveway, stairs, and deck clean. It is easy to use and store due to its lightweight and compact size.
Key Features
  • 2-in-1 Sweeper & Vacuum
  • 150CFM Lightweight Mini Leaf Blower
  • Variable-Speed
  • Powerful Copper Motor with Turbine Tech
  • 50% Less Noise & Variable-Speed
PROS
  • 2-in-1 blowing and vacuuming capabilities
  • Compact and lightweight design
  • Charges quickly
CONS
  • Only useful for small jobs
  • Hard to find replacement batteries

3. Toro PowerPlex 51690 Cordless Blower

The cordless Toro PowerPlex 51690 is ideal for small yards and light debris. The design of the cordless blower makes it easy for the user to control the speed, and it is compatible with additional attachments (though those are sold separately).  The variable speed trigger, turbo boost, and speed lock are positioned nearby for the user’s convenience and comfort.  Need to clean your gutters or expand the range of your leaf blower? Increase the versatility of the leaf blower so that you can accomplish more with a single piece of equipment. Attaching the Toro gutter cleaning kit or oscillating nozzle kit to your Toro PowerPlex 51690 blower will allow you to complete more work with less effort.  Remember that the kits and attachments are sold separately and are not included with the leaf blower.

4. Best Compact: BLACK+DECKER 20V Max Lithium Cordless Sweeper

Have you ever desired an alternative to a broom for removing dust, dirt, cobwebs, and small debris? You do not require a full-fledged blower’s strength, but you need something with a smaller air volume and nearly the same air velocity. Enter the BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX Lithium Cordless Sweeper (LSW221).  The unit was packaged in a sturdy cardboard box that identified it as the BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX Lithium Sweeper (LSW221). A disassembled sweeper, two blower tubes, an instruction manual, a battery, and a battery charger were contained within the box. The entire shipment of goods passed through unscathed. The operation instructions were straightforward.  The sweeper consists of three pieces (not counting the battery and charger). It consists primarily of the motor assembly and two blower tubes. The tubes connect with interlocking tabs by sliding and clicking into place. It could not be easier to assemble. I like simple.  I liked this vacuum cleaner (or small blower as I often refer to them). It is compact and portable. My most frequent uses for the BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX Lithium Sweeper (LSW221) include clearing out my garage and the bed of my pickup truck. I’ve also used it to clean my patio rugs and dusty areas (my wife and I reside in Tucson, Arizona, which is notorious for its dust, which gets everywhere!). This is one of the many areas in which this infant excels.  Since receiving this test unit from BLACK+DECKER, I have retired my broom and dustpan. There are exceptions, such as piles of dirt or heavy debris, but the BLACK+DECKER Sweeper has nearly rendered the broom obsolete.  Some sweepers, such as the BLACK+DECKER sweeper, have the air intake on the bottom, while others, such as the POWERSWEEEPER, have it on the side. Bottom-mounted inputs are the least likely of those I’ve tested to draw in clothing (assuming you’re holding the unit alongside you while using it). In addition, even the bottom intakes can have suction issues with clothing (wearing an untucked long-tailed shirt, for example).  As the air intake is located on the left side of the unit, I discovered that using the BLACK+DECKER sweeper with my right hand increased the likelihood that I would block the air intake with my pant leg. As soon as my leg touched the intake, the airflow and volume decreased by roughly half. This becomes problematic if you wish to maintain a constant airflow/volume, prevent the motor from overheating, and keep the blown debris moving.  I attempted to use the sweeper in my left hand to avoid the air intake issue, but this exposed my leg to the motor assembly that protruded 2.50″ from the sweeper’s body (making it more difficult to maneuver).  I liked the BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX Lithium Sweeper’s feel (LSW221). It was incredibly lightweight, user-friendly, and durable (I dropped it a few times and once left it in the rain, it didn’t break). It’s roughly 120 CFM of air moved all the dust, dried leaves, and small debris from my decks, furniture, outdoor rugs, garage, pickup truck bed, etc.  The sweeper’s on/off switch is conveniently located at the top of the handle and is operated with the thumb. The sweeper is a brushed motor-driven unit with a single speed.
Key Features
  • Easily clears debris from hard surfaces like driveways, decks, and garages

CONS
  • Only effective on light debris
  • Battery takes a long time to recharge

5. Best For Big Yards: EGO Power+ LB5302 Cordless Leaf Blower

The original EGO POWER blower proved that a battery-powered leaf blower could match the performance of cumbersome corded blowers and finicky gas-powered backpack blowers. Since then, EGO has released the POWER+ LB5302, the world’s most powerful battery-powered leaf blower. The war has ended! There is now no reason not to choose a battery-powered blower for its convenience. It is like when laptop computers finally caught up to desktop computers in terms of price and performance; the rest is history.  The EGO POWER+ LB5302 blower is equipped with an advanced 56V Arc lithium battery with a 2.5Ah capacity and operates at three variable speeds: 250 cfm, 400 cfm, and 530 cfm. The LB5302’s 530 cfm airflow volume in turbo mode makes it the most powerful cordless leaf blower available. The volume is more significant than comparable gas-powered blowers. A commercial backpack leaf blower could only surpass the LB5302.  In contrast, this blower’s top speed of 114 mph is not as high as that of gas-powered blowers but is still adequate. It is, after all, a battery-powered device. Note that airflow volume, not velocity, determines the ability to move many leaves. The lightweight portability of the EGO POWER+ LB5302, which weighs just 7.4 pounds, including the battery, more than makes up for any shortcoming. It is also quieter than its gasoline-powered counterparts. The battery only lasts 15 minutes in turbo mode, but it only takes 30 minutes to charge the 2.5Ah Arc lithium battery, so if you purchase extra batteries, you can complete any task with this blower. Obtain the 5.0Ah or 7.5Ah battery, which are compatible with other EGO cordless power tools. It is enjoyable to use and produces cleaner air than burning gasoline.  Having established that the LB5302 performs admirably, what about its technical aspects? Rest assured that you will also be satisfied in this regard. This fan employs turbine fan engineering, a component of cutting-edge aeronautics technology. Overkill? Maybe, but if it’s on the table, we won’t argue! Moreover, the EGO POWER+ series, which this blower is a part of, won the 2015 Pro Tool Innovation Award, indicating that Ego must have done something right.
Key Features

  • It’s on the expensive side, so the portability comes at a price.
  • Lacks the mulch feature of some gas-powered blowers.

6. Best Fan Design: DEWALT DCBL722P1 Leaf Blower

Is it seeking the Finest Leaf Blower? The DEWALT DCBL722P1 is an excellent option. It is lightweight and user-friendly, and its rechargeable battery packs incredible power. It comes with a MAX lithium-ion battery that is interchangeable with other DEWALT power tools and is ideal for those who wish to ditch a gas-powered backpack blower.  Even when operating at full power, the DEWALT DCBL722P1 Cordless Leaf Blower has a long runtime due to its brushless motor. It is battery-powered, so there is no need to waste gas or fumble with a cord. It has a maximum air volume of 450 cubic feet and is both lightweight and powerful.  The DEWALT cordless blower is incredibly effective, with a maximum air volume of 450 cubic feet per minute and a top air speed of 125 miles per hour with the concentrator nozzle attached. It provides complete control with a variable trigger speed and a speed lock. The MAX brushless handheld motor is extraordinarily efficient, extending runtime and motor life. According to reviews, it comes with a 5 Ah 20 V MAX lithium-ion battery that is less powerful than the Toro 51619 Ultra Electric Blower but still does the job effectively. This XR brushless handheld blower is compatible with batteries for other DEWALT power tools, and reviews indicate that a single charge lasts a couple of hours. Please read our review of the Crescent AC210Vs adjustable wrench if you need adjustable wrenches.  The handheld blower from DEWALT has a lightweight and ergonomic design, so you will tire less quickly when using it. It is not as powerful as a gas-powered blower (such as the Hitachi RB24EAP Gas Leaf Blower), but it has one of the most extended battery lives on the market and is more environmentally friendly. Compared to other handheld leaf blowers, the MAX brushless handheld blower is lighter and easier to use. Numerous reviews note that its weight is ideal for elderly parents and individuals who don’t do much landscaping.  It’s not relatively as inexpensive as the Greenworks 24012 Electric Blower, but the DEWALT Leaf Blower’s ah battery pack is interchangeable with other DEWALT power tools. This saves substantial time and money, particularly if you already have a DEWALT tool ecosystem. Reviewers also note that the DEWALT repair center is simple to work with and will send free replacement batteries in case of a charging issue. It is an excellent leaf blower for consumers in the middle price range (but not suitable for commercial use).  If you have difficulty using heavier gas-powered leaf blowers, the DEWALT DCBL722P1 Cordless Leaf Blower is an excellent option. The battery’s compatibility with other DEWALT power tools is an enormous plus, as it creates a great ecosystem with your existing tools. At 125 miles per hour with the concentration nozzle, it obliterates the competition.

7. Best Adjustable Tube: SnapFresh Electric Cordless Leaf Blower

This blower is simple to disassemble for storage, cleaning, and maintenance. It features airspeed modes of 60 mph and 130 mph airspeed modes and an adjustable tube for indoor and outdoor use. Its handle is also designed to be ergonomic for prolonged use.  The SnapFresh comes with a manual, but unless you’re highly manual-obsessed, you can leave it in the box because assembly is so simple. First, connect the lower tube to the upper tube, followed by the upper tube to the motor housing.  Second, place the battery in the charger and allow it to charge for one hour. The charger has two LEDs; when the red one is lit, the device is charging, and when the green one is lit, the device is fully charged.  Third, insert it into the slot beneath the handle once the battery has been fully charged, and you are ready to go!  The first test of the SnapFresh blower was conducted on the back deck. It has two speeds, the lowest of which I tried and found unimpressive. There is not much force, nor is the wind mighty at this speed. I suppose this could be useful for small, delicate tasks, but I’ve never found a reason to use it. Thankfully, there is also a fast speed, which is significantly more satisfying. My backyard deck was cleared of grass in a matter of minutes due to this machine’s ample power (relative to its size).  SnapFresh is exceptionally lightweight and well-balanced. I can easily hold it with one hand and direct it wherever I desire. The blower’s tip is approximately 2 inches wide and 1 inch tall. This is a tiny area required due to the motor’s diminutive size.  There are no additional features on this blower. It does not vacuum leaves or anything similar; it is solely for blowing. A spare battery is available for an additional $30. Given the limited battery life of the SnapFresh, it may be advantageous to have an extra battery on hand.  The SnapFresh Cordless Leaf Blower is compact, slender, and light enough to be operated with one hand. The battery life is approximately 13 minutes, and it takes one hour to recharge. It’s not powerful enough for large tasks, such as blowing piles of leaves in the yard, but it’s ideal for smaller jobs around the house, such as clearing the front and back porches and the driveway. Every two or three days, I grab this blower to do a quick sweep outside.
Key Features
  • Powerful & Adjustable Motor
  • Ergonomic Design with Adjustable Tubes
  • Get Start in 1-min
  • Super Battery Performance
  • Multi-way for Using

9. DEWALT FLEXVOLT 60V MAX Blower

With less noise, less maintenance, and no harmful emissions, battery-powered leaf blowers are superior to their gas-powered counterparts.  One disadvantage of battery-powered equipment is purchasing a new battery for each tool. Or, if the company sells compatible batteries, the batteries may only be compatible with a small number of devices.  This is no longer the case, thanks to the DEWALT Flexvolt DCBL773X1 leaf blower. This robust leaf blower has an airspeed of 125 mph and an air volume of 600 CFM, as well as a MAX Flexvolt battery compatible with both 20-volt MAX tools and 60-volt MAX tools. The battery provides power to multiple devices with different voltages.  Additionally, the 20V/60V battery is compatible with over 200 products. That’s quite a several tools.

  • This leaf blower ranks second heaviest on this list at 12 pounds.

10. RYOBI RY40470VNM Cordless Jet Fan Leaf Blower

Need a leaf blower that can get the job done without causing your neighbors to complain about the noise? The leaf blower RYOBI RY40470VNM has you covered. This quiet leaf blower with a decibel rating of 59 dB (A) keeps the neighbors happy without sacrificing performance.  With an airflow of 125 mph and 550 CFM, it is surprising that such a powerful tool has a decibel rating of less than 60. (A). However, the RYOBI RY40470VNM appears to have no difficulty blowing leaves while remaining one of the quietest leaf blowers on our list.  And if you are already an RYOBI fan, that is even better. The leaf blower is compatible with your 40-Volt RYOBI battery and charger in your garage.
Key Features
  • 40-Volt Lithium-Ion
  • 4.0 Ah Battery and Charger Included
  • 550 Cubic Feet Per Minute
  • 125 Miles per Hour
PROS
  • Turbo button

What to Consider When Purchasing a Cordless Leaf Blower

Powering cordless leaf blowers are either gas or electricity. Electric blowers are typically lighter and produce less noise and air pollution, but they can overheat and generally are weaker. On the other hand, gas-powered products pack more of a punch when it comes to forcing, but they emit a number of gas pollutants4 and require more complicated maintenance.

Yard size

Consider the size of your yard when deciding how powerful a leaf blower you require. If you have a large area with many trees, you will need a powerful product with a high CFM (cubic feet per minute) rating, allowing you to move leaves and debris more quickly and efficiently.

Speed settings

Some leaf blowers only have one speed, which may be sufficient if you have a small yard and primarily remove dry leaves. However, if you intend to use your leaf blower for more challenging tasks, you should invest in a variable-speed blower that can be adjusted as needed.

Air Flow

The volume of air produced by a cordless fan is measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM). A high CFM rating is required to remove leaves and heavier debris, such as sticks and branches. However, a high CFM value can also result in a leaf blower that is heavier and louder due to its more extensive and more powerful motor.

Battery Life

The batteries used in cordless blowers have a short lifespan and must be recharged between uses or during lengthy clearing sessions. Some cordless leaf blowers have a lifespan of 15–20 minutes, while others have over an hour. Choose a cordless leaf blower with a long-lasting battery if you have a large yard to avoid recharge in the middle of your session.

Noise Level

A cordless leaf blower’s noise level is measured in decibels, with a lower decibel rating indicating a quieter leaf blower. High CFM and mph leaf blowers are typically louder than their less powerful counterparts. If you live in a densely populated area with close neighbors, you should consider purchasing a leaf blower with a lower decibel output to avoid disturbing them. However, if you choose a leaf blower with a decibel level above 60–65, you should also purchase ear protection to prevent hearing loss.

Weight

Lightweight leaf blowers weigh a few pounds and can be carried for extended periods without discomfort. However, heavier models may necessitate frequent breaks and leave your arms feeling tired.

Nozzle Type

Some cordless leaf blowers have a round nozzle that emits a strong air stream to clear many leaves simultaneously. Others have a narrow nozzle for cleaning grates, corners, and other small areas. Some models include nozzle types, allowing you to switch between them as needed. Consider the size of your yard and the types of areas that require clearing when selecting the appropriate nozzle.

FAQs

The primary advantage of a cordless leaf blower is that it does not require an extension cord for operation. With a corded leaf blower, you must locate an electrical outlet, find an extension cord, and maneuver the power cord around obstructions. With a cordless leaf blower, you can begin your work more quickly and with greater mobility. Additionally, many cordless leaf blowers are relatively lightweight, making them easier to handle.

Most battery-powered leaf blowers have a charge time of 20 to 30 minutes. Nevertheless, a cordless leaf blower’s durability is contingent on several factors. Naturally, gas-powered models will have a longer lifespan than battery-powered models and can be refueled immediately. Additionally, the runtime will be affected by the type of battery and the operating speed of your blower. Operating a leaf blower on its highest setting will rapidly deplete its battery.

You will need to charge a battery-powered cordless leaf blower after every use. Most models have a relatively short runtime, so it’s best to always begin with a fully charged battery; otherwise, you risk running out of juice before you’ve finished cleaning your yard.

On the highest speed setting, cordless leaf blowers can be used to clear light, powdery snow less than one inch in depth. They cannot, however, be used to remove dense, wet snow because they lack the necessary power. If this type of snow falls in your region, consider purchasing a snow shovel or snow blower.

Cordless leaf blowers are battery-powered, preventing them from emitting noxious, unpleasant byproducts like gas-powered leaf blowers. In addition, they provide greater mobility compared to corded models. Additionally, they are smaller and lighter than the other two types, making them easier to handle.

The lithium-ion battery used in most cordless leaf blowers has a voltage between 18 and 120 volts. Lithium-ion batteries have a lifespan of two to three years or 500 charge cycles, making them more durable than other battery types. In addition, they are lighter, reducing the overall weight of your leaf blower.

Conclusion

Consider your needs and the tasks you plan to complete with a leaf blower. Will a cordless model provide sufficient air velocity and flow rate for the intended job? (See the section on power above). I have conducted extensive research to provide you with some of the best options currently available on the US market. You will need to base your decision on the amount of power you need, the features you require, and your budget.

Given the variety of options, finding the best cordless leaf blower for your needs can be overwhelming. I have conducted extensive research to provide you with the very best. There is something suitable for all needs and budgets.
