Based on our evaluations, the OnePlus 10 Pro is one of the best Android smartphones available. The battery life is exceptional, the cameras are excellent, and the performance is superb. However, AT&T customers should be aware that this phone does not support 5G on AT&T. OnePlus’ official carrier partner, T-Mobile is working on Verizon certification. 

The OnePlus 10 Pro received a high rating in our review due to its slick design, powerful performance, and affordable price tag, which undercuts its primary competitors. This flagship requires a few improvements, most notably to the camera, which is good but not great, but it provides an excellent experience overall. Even better, the iPhone SE (2022) is powered by the same A15 Bionic chipset as the iPhone 13 series. Therefore, despite the iPhone SE’s diminutive size, it does not sacrifice performance. 

5G support is subject to one restriction, however. iPhone SE (2022) is incompatible with mmWave-based 5G. This is not a deal-breaker, as Verizon is abandoning mmWave in favor of C-Band 5G, which offers faster speeds over a greater distance. However, iPhone 13 models do not limit the 5G networks they support. 

The iPhone SE’s camera is a strong performer, but we wish it had a Night mode. Still, the $429 price is challenging to beat, particularly for those who favor compact phones and are ready to leap to 5G.

5G network explanations

Low-band, mid-band, and high-band wavelength spectrums exist in the United States, with some carriers supporting multiple bands. 

The high-band spectrum is made up of short waves that cannot penetrate buildings or pass-through solid objects. However, it is the fastest network technology and the most discussed by Qualcomm, as it requires Qualcomm mmWave modems to operate. 

As a result of their greater bandwidth and limited range, these high-band networks are designed for dense urban areas. The 5G Ultra-Wideband network from Verizon is a high-band spectrum network. AT&T and T-Mobile will both support mmWave in 2021, with T-Mobile prioritizing low band for nationwide coverage and mmWave for dense urban areas. mmWave is the most limited in phones, so you must confirm that the phone you intend to purchase contains radios to support mmWave. 

Mid-band spectrum networks balance speed and range, but a significant portion of this bandwidth is already in use, limiting its expansion potential. Sprint utilized the 2.5GHz mid-band spectrum, and now that Sprint is a part of T-Mobile, customers will also be able to use this spectrum. 

T-Mobile is the leading advocate for low-band spectrum and was the first to implement it nationwide. All major carriers support low-band 5G, and the default network for a phone with 5G on the box is low-band. The low-band network has a frequency of 600 MHz and is designed for extended coverage with building and obstruction penetration. It is not as fast as mmWave 5G, but current tests indicate you can anticipate faster speeds and a more excellent range than LTE. As people work indoors during this time of coronavirus, the low-band spectrum may be more helpful.
