Apple is rumored to be testing an Android application for Apple TV.
Numerous rumors circulate regarding Apple’s first event of the year. Maybe we’ll get a glimpse of an augmented reality headset. Or a contemporary MacBook Pro. Or the first Apple Mac Pro based on silicon. Or… a new Android application?
According to a rumor from the relatively reliable Twitter account ShrimpApplePro, Apple is developing an Apple TV app for Android. The leaker claims the application is undergoing internal beta testing and “will be released soon.” Apple has released Apple TV and Apple TV+ apps for Samsung and LG smart TVs, as well as Roku and Google TV. Apple has not yet released an Apple TV app for any other smartphone or tablet besides the iPhone and iPad.

Oh Apple Music app for Android is also getting updated too.— ShrimpApplePro š¤ (@VNchocoTaco) December 20, 2022
Apple offers two distinct Apple TV applications. The full Apple TV app would allow Android users to rent and purchase movies, subscribe to Apple TV+, and watch Friday Night Baseball. In contrast, the Apple TV+ app is solely dedicated to the Apple TV+ service, similar to the Netflix app.
Apple’s first service-related Android app since Beats Music became Apple Music in 2015 would be an Apple TV app. Apple regularly updates the Apple Music app for Android with minor app and performance enhancements, and it has many of the same features as the iOS app, such as widgets for the home screen and lossless audio. Shrimp ApplePro states that an update is forthcoming for Apple Music on Android, but provides no additional information.
Apple’s new Major League Soccer Season Pass will be released on February 1, so the Apple TV app for Android may arrive in early January.
