Have horizontal lines appeared on your iPhone 14 display when waking from sleep or booting? According to Apple, there’s no need to send it in for a replacement.
On Reddit, a growing number of iPhone 14 owners are complaining about horizontal lines running across their screens when booting up or waking up from sleep. The original poster (along with other thread participants) took their phones to their local Apple Store for answers, or possibly a replacement, citing a hardware issue. However, after running diagnostics, Apple support blames an iOS bug.
According to the original poster, “When the phone wakes up, horizontal lines appear on the screen. That happens at random, not every time the phone wakes up. Sometimes it’s just one line, other times it’s several.” When the poster took it to the Apple Store, it was rejected “They ran diagnostics and found that everything was fine (green). The technician informed me that the problem is not with the hardware, but rather with the software.” Other users reported having lines on their displays, taking their phones to Apple, and being told that the company is aware of the problem while insisting that it is not a hardware defect.
According to the comments, Apple support members suggested temporary solutions such as resetting the device or simply rebooting. Others have attempted to disable AoD (Always on Display) with varying degrees of success. It appears to us that there is a problem with the display controller, which could be resolved with a firmware update.
For the time being, Apple appears to be telling affected iPhone 14 owners not to panic, that they’re on the case, and that a software update to correct the problem is in the works. Cupertino hasn’t made an official statement about how soon this will happen.
