The Zombie Strike Nerf Doublestrike is a child in the spirit of Zombie Hammerstrike, which is still very popular. Hasbro probably took it would make sense to expand the revolver-helm concept. As in the case of the father’s father, the hammer must be harnessed before the shot of the snap-cock ( hammer ), only then can the trigger be triggered to send one of the two darts on his journey.
The concept of Zombie Doublestrike is a great alternative to the other very bulky blasters. Unfortunately, the design of this Nerf Gun comes with a crucial design flaw – which we will tell you in the following review.
- Cool revolver design
- Pretty tough
- Good range
- Cock can be pulled too far -> Darts do not fly properly
- Hahn ergonomically badly designed and narrow handle
- Only two darts included
Design and ergonomics of the Nerf Doublestrike
The Nerf Zombie Strike Doublestrike appears in the well-known bright Zombie Strike green, with nice details like a bandaged handle design and orange accents. Obendrauf is the Zombiestrike logo (this time not as an adhesive but printed).
The Blaster itself is probably rather a Taschenrevolver, as a 44 Magnum replacement, but also as such thought. He is very light and small, but to give the truth the honor we think the Doublestrike is even a bit too small. If one holds the handle, the little finger finds no place and lies strangely under the handle. All in all, she reminds us of the ” chirping cricket ” from Man in Black. From this, the Nerf Doublestrike is however very robust and also survives inevitable falls.
Zombie Doublestrike: Handling and Performance
The Nerf Doublestrike would be a genius blaster for only 15 Euro, if not with the construction (or production?) Would have been spoiled. The whole fun of the hammer concept is based on a wild west hero with the flat side and to push down the cock again and again and to hunt a dart after the other in Zombiehorden – but this is not possible! Because the cock tends to overstretch, it is then automatically high again, however, a small amount of air is released from the “Smart AR” system into the barrel. Enough air to push the dart a bit out of the barrel. Since our dart is now half-gagged, it flies only one meter far, if we do not push back manually.
Indeed you could hold a hand whenever cocking the cock before the mouth of the Zombie Doublestrike, only then no dual-Wield action is possible.
The “Smart AR” system (Smart Air Restriction) works very well with other Nerf guns, such as the Elite Triad or the Elite Rough Cut 2 × 4 (Shotgun), which is why we are concerned here with a quality problem of individual parts to a basic design error. This is good, because you can easily fix the problem with some modding, but it is annoying for all those who simply want to use a shelf version of the Zombie Strike Nerf Doublestrike.
The real performance of the nerf zombie slaughter is rather mixed. The range is quite good for this type of weapon with an average of 18 meters, unfortunately only one does not meet very much. As is usually the case for elite nerf guns, the Doublestrike has a lot of darts and crooked shoots. Even more than, for example, the elite triad, which is very similar in design to the Smart AR system.
Also, the speed of the darts was not satisfactory; there is a large variance – between 13 meters up to 21 meters the second is pretty much everything, therefore, the response accuracy varies considerably.
The malfunction of the cock (or the Smart AR?) As well as the two-pack with darts leads to a fire rate which is still okay, but not good anymore. You can shoot about 5 to 6 darts in 10 seconds.
Our conclusion to the Zombie Strike Doublestrike
Certainly, the Nerf Zombie Strike Doublestrike cost only 15 euros, but that is after all also 15 euros for which you could buy, e.g., an Elite Strongarm, which performs much better. Certainly, the price will drop somewhat and come closer to the actual “value” of Nerf Doublestrike. We think a 10er would be fair.
Despite the harsh criticism, it must also be made clear that children will have fun with the Nerf Gun. If you want to use the Doublestrike, not in the LARP and Nerf battles or modded is the Nerf Doublestrike nevertheless correct. It is well designed, very sturdy and gives you its opponents a nice subtle disadvantage ^ ^
If the air pressure problems are solved in the future, the Nerf Doublestrike is an excellent alternative.
