Many parents swear by the natural power of the Bach flower: Small flowers, big effect? Sleep problems, test anxiety and a lack of self-esteem: These and many other issues that babies and children are struggling with have grown into a herb.
Flower essences help with emotional imbalance
The alternative healing method of Bach flower therapy was developed in the 1930s by Edward Bach (1886-1936). The British doctor assumed that every illness was based on a disturbance of the mental balance. With extracts of 37 blossoms and parts of plants as well as an essence of rock spring water, stress, inner restlessness, fears and other emotional disturbances should come back into balance.
Each flower essence corresponds to a certain negative mental state of the human. Through the Bach flowers, inner harmony is to be restored.
As is so often the case with alternative healing methods, science is skeptical about this therapy: so far, they have been unable to demonstrate any curative effects on the flower essences, which are given in a highly diluted form. Nevertheless, many people rely on their effectiveness. Especially parents like to give their children Bach flowers, as they do not have to fear any side effects and they often have a positive effect on the state of mind.
There are now products that are specifically tailored to the needs of children. You can also use the products for adults. However, parents should make sure that the alcohol content is not too high or ideally no alcohol at all. This varies depending on the manufacturer.
Fields of application of flower essences

The special feature: These drops consist of a mixture of five different flower essences, which should help especially in extreme stress situations such as shock or test anxiety.
Rescue drops should also soothe babies after vaccination. Emergency drops are also available as candies or cream.
Application and dosage of Bach flowers
The great advantage of this alternative healing method: Bach flower remedies have no side effects and can, therefore, be safely administered to babies and children. The highly diluted flower extracts are usually available in small vials, but also as tablets or sugar globules ( globules ).
With a pipette, the essences are dripped on the tongue or diluted with water drunk. Infants are blended with the tasteless drops in the food or drink. Babies can take the drops with the bottle milk, breastfeeding mothers take the Bach flowers themselves and pass them on to the mother through the breast milk.
The usual dosage of Bach flowers is four drops each, which are taken six times throughout the day. In the acute case, more drops can be taken; there is no risk of overdose.
Limits of application
Bach flower remedies are well suited to assist children in certain situations, such as test anxiety or low self-esteem. In case of teething problems, high fever or mental disorders, however, parents should consult a doctor. The flower essences replace no medication and no doctor’s treatment.
