8 month baby milestones – 8 month baby care tips

The eighth month of life: sitting, crawling or already standing? –  You have been looking forward to the moment when your little one finally moves from one point to another without help. For many babies, it’s eight months.

Do not be afraid of small accidents

Crawling, sitting and standing inevitably lead to sometimes painful shock and fall experiences.

However, try to resist your protective instinct in minor dangers. Every movement, fall and impact experience will help your baby to move more and more safely and independently.

Never leave it unattended in a room. Even if you have probably taken all sorts of security precautions, there are always risks that you may not have considered. If you need to leave the room where your baby is staying, take it with you or leave it in the playpen for your safety .

Fine motor skills

In the eighth month is the memory of the time when a baby did not know how it’s something grab can be still very present for parents. It seems all the more astonishing that only a few weeks later it can even control the individual fingers. So many babies can point with their outstretched forefinger to the things they would like to have. Also, the comparatively difficult pliers handle, in which objects are gripped with thumb and forefinger, hard-tested.

Air kiss for mom

In addition to the motor sensibility, the sensations surrounding one’s own emotional life are sharpened. Your baby is now learning more and more intensively to imitate and assess feelings. It sometimes comes to moments where compassion arises.Sometimes the crying of other babies leads to crying. But also joy and love are expressed even more strongly and, for example, air kisses for mom or dad with a lot of fun reciprocated.

Freidel: The right to set yourself apart

Your baby is tired, upset or uncomfortable with his surroundings? For many babies in the eighth month, Fremdeln is simply part of their emotional world. This may seem problematic in some cases. Although it can be a bit of a hassle on spontaneous babysitting assignments, consider it a positive developmental step, as “natural parental control” provides important protection for your baby.

Closely related to alienation is the fear of being without mom or dad. If you would like or need to give your child more child care now, you should slowly turn the babysitter into a confidant. Thus, the farewell pain is often less intense. Show and emphasize to your baby that you keep coming back and give him an extra dose of affectionate closeness in separation fears.

Hardly a child and hardly a mom get along regarding separation anxiety without a tear or two. Even if it is difficult for some mothers: Letting go is a process that both children and mothers have to learn again and again in different life situations.

Playful promotion in the eighth month

Even though babies under the age of one are still a long way from playing with each other, many find the observation of other babies very exciting. The regular visit of a baby play or toddler group can, therefore, be an interesting change. Likewise, the exchange with other parents often brings new ideas for home play and movement. These include, for example:

  • Mini football (Have your baby kick or swing it against a light ball)
  • Hide and find your favorite toy,
  • Tug-of-war with the spit or tea towel,
  • Just wrap somewhere else (promotes the sense of discovery and helps against boredom in daily diapers).

Even a visit to the swimming pool or the purchase of a small sandbox now makes for a lot of fun.

For language support are nursery rhymes, children’s songs, read-aloud stories and picture books ideal. Children’s television and cartoons, according to studies, are not suitable for promoting the linguistic development of babies. Babies can learn to speak only through a strong interaction with their caregivers and not through pure radio listening or television.

Useful for babies 8th-month

Many children can already sit on their own for eight months, so the switch from the stroller to the buggy is recommended. This is more compact and folds easier. Especially for children who can already run the buggy has the advantage that the getting in and out quickly.

To bring chilled baby food to the optimum temperature, a baby food warmer is ideal. This gently warms the food without destroying vitamins and nutrients. So the cold baby food can be prepared quickly and easily for consumption.
